Major general Vikram Dogra became the first officer to complete ‘Ironman’ Triathalon

The first Indian Army Officer; Major General Vikram Dogra has become the first officer to complete Ironman Triathalon Event. Major General Dogra is currently DG Resettlement.

This event is contemplated as one of the most laborious and difficult one-day sporting events in the world. It is organised in Austria.

Ironman is a triathalon that is organized every year by World Trialown Corporation (WTC). The maximum time to complete this competition is 17 hours but Major Vikram completed it in 14 hours and 21 minutes.


The Ironman Triathlon comprises three consecutive events; 3.8 km swim, 180km cycling and 42.2 km marathon. All completed in a day without a break.

“He is the only serving army officer from the Indian Army to have done a full Ironman and the only General across the globe to have done so,” Army spokesperson Col. Aman Anand said.

Ironman Triathalon, Austria was held in the picturesque town of Klagenfurt where people across the world participated. More than 3000 athletes participated from 50 countries.
