Dr. Sunila Khandelwal- A journey of transforming women’s life miserable to meaningful

A woman is an epitome of beauty, care and wisdom. She fulfills the role of a daughter, a mother and a wife with all the unique strength and honor. She holds the important place in society without whom the man cannot travel the path of life alone. Today women have almost achieved success in each and every criteria, no matter it is politics, culture, economic, art or any other field. From climbing Mount Everest to step into space, women’s are walking equally with men’s and are above them at all the places.

On International Women’s Day, we are saluting such a woman who is a great inspiration for all the women’s out there. Dr. Sunila Khandelwal is a leading Gynaecologist and Obstetrician from Jaipur, Rajasthan. During the initial days of her career, she had faced a lot of problems. She left her Government job and started working for delicate problems like Menopause and other Women health-related issues. Menopause is a subject which was not taken well in society. People did not support her to do the work as she wanted, but her core desire and passion to work for the women healthcare sector made her achieve her mission.

“I really found that I need to do something for that neglected area, where the women are not being looked after by family, by husband and also by herself, as she is so much involved in serving her family, and she is not taking care of herself. She has own 1/3 of her life ahead after the menopause”, said Dr Sunila Khandelwal.

She has established the clinic in 1994 and has gained a loyal clientele over the past few years. With the experience of more than 38 years, she is dedicated towards Mid Life Women Healthcare and Management of Menopause in India. She served as the President, Indian Menopause Society, represented India at North American Menopause Society and the Asia Pacific Menopause Federation and also she is holding the position as Secretary General, CAMS and Board Members- International Menopause Society for networking of global initiatives in 57 countries on mature women health care.

She has been awarded “Times of India Health Award” (2013) as best Gynaecologist of Rajasthan for her academic achievements, clinical skills &social services, DNA Award “Women of Substance” (2012), GuniJan 2000 and state level & International Jain Vaishya award (2003) for woman health services rendered to poor segments at urban & rural areas.
She was also honored as the “Distinguished Alumni” of SMS Medical College and “Award of Excellence” by International Menopause Society. She is regularly invited for Medi talks on T.V. (National & State Level Broadcasts) & by different NGO clubs.

To make women and the general public aware about staying healthy after age 40, she published booklet “stay healthy after 40” on menopause, osteoporosis, cancer prevention, nutrition and exercise etc.

Dr Sunila Khandelwal is also the Executive Producer of IMS Documentary film ‘SUMANGLA’ and also published articles on women health in health columns of leading Magazines & News Papers.
